About Us

Mission We exist to advance the kingdom of God by winning souls for the Lord Jesus Christ

Our History

St. Mark Church of God in Christ was founded in Indianapolis in July 1982.Meetings were held in the home of our Church Mother, Mother Ella J. French. The initial members requested that Elder Michael W. French M.D. become the pastor of this new church. He had served as Assistant Pastor of Buggs Temple Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of the last Supt. James C. Buggs. The church was located in various locations. In September 1992, the church was able to purchase the property at 2064 North Cornell Avenue. This is the present  location of our ministry. The church’s name was later changed to New St. Mark Church of God in Christ, Inc. In 1995, Pastor French became District Superintendent of Charity District under Bishop Milton L. Hall Sr. In 2006, after the death of Bishop Hall, New St Mark and Pastor French became members of Indiana North Central Fourth Jurisdiction under Bishop Donald L. Alford Sr. Supt. Willie Sholar became  the District Superintendent of Charity District, also under Bishop Alford.
